Somatic Movement Group in Atlanta: M-Bodied: Mindful Movement as Mothering Medicine®

This somatic movement group in Atlanta offers a relational, developmentally-informed approach to embodiment, nervous system support, and lasting change. Through experiential, non-performative practices, you’ll explore new ways of moving, expressing, and relating—within yourself and with others.

This is a space to come back into your body—gently, with support, and at your own pace.

When words don’t quite reach it…
when something feels stuck, looping, or just out of reach…
movement can begin to open new pathways.

Maybe you notice familiar patterns repeating in your relationships, your emotions, or how you move through the world. Maybe your energy doesn’t flow the way you want it to. Maybe your voice feels muted, your body tense or distant, or your system pulled between overwhelm and shutdown.

Or maybe something quieter is happening—
a sense that your body is asking for more:
more space, more support, more room to move, express, and exist as you.

This is not a fitness class.
It’s not about performance, flexibility, or getting anything “right.”

It’s a therapeutic, relational movement experience where your body gets to explore—
new rhythms, new expressions, new ways of being supported.

Through mindful movement, breath, relational attunement, and developmentally-significant practices, you begin to experience your body differently—not by forcing change, but by allowing new patterns to emerge.

Over time, you may begin to notice:

• more ease moving through your day
• a steadier, more supported internal rhythm
• greater emotional range and flexibility
• clearer boundaries and fuller self-expression
• more access to energy, pleasure, and aliveness

The result?
New moves.
Healthier patterns.
More of you.

Relational, developmental somatic therapy practice with two-person movement interaction

This relational somatic practice shows the somatic therapist (Caroline) supporting the model client’s “symbolic redo” of oppositional movement radiating from the pelvis which helps one to “put their foot down.”

What we explore:

A Different Kind of Somatic Movement Group in Atlanta

Alongside developmentally-informed yoga shapes and sequences, we explore somatic practices inspired by the 4 Emanations of Embodiment:

Navel Radiation
Move from your center. Feel more supported, organized, and fluid from the inside out.

Contralateral Movement
Reconnect cross-body patterns that support coordination, integration, and a greater sense of flow.

Gesture
Explore your “energetic skin”—your capacity for presence, expression, and boundary in relationship.

Handling
Expand how you support yourself—physically, emotionally, and relationally—through movement and contact.

*These practices are grounded in my relational somatic approach and influenced by the Chi for Two® method.

You might be a good fit for this group if you…

…are already in therapy and want something more experiential
You’ve done meaningful insight work—and you’re ready to feel and embody change, not just understand it.

…are a parent curious about your patterns and your impact
You want to respond to your children with more presence and steadiness—but notice your own reactions, overwhelm, or old patterns getting in the way.
This space supports you in becoming the grounded, responsive support your child is asking for.

…are exploring sobriety, eating disorder recovery, or your relationship with control
You may be navigating disconnection, numbing, or intensity—and want a more supported, body-based way to be with yourself.
This work helps you reconnect gradually, without force or pressure.

…feel disconnected from your body—or want to feel more like yourself in it
Maybe you feel shut down, overextended, or unsure how to access your energy, voice, or expression.
This is a space to rediscover those parts of you—at your own pace.

…are drawn to embodiment—but want something real, not performative
Not a class where you have to get it right.
A space where you can explore—from micro-movements to fuller expression—with support, curiosity, and choice.

Why this work matters:

How you move, relate, and respond didn’t start with you. Your body learned through early relationships—through rhythms of connection, separation, support, and adaptation.

And because none of us received ideal support, many of us carry patterns like:

  • holding back

  • over-functioning

  • shutting down

  • or disconnecting from our own expression

This work offers something different. A chance to experience new patterns—not just understand them. A chance to feel supported in ways your body may have been needing for a long time.

This is not just about symptom relief.
It’s about nourishment.
Vitality.
Connection.

From the inside out.

Participants exploring embodied art practice in therapy group

An embodied art practice is connecting with Navel Radiation, a developmental movement concept that helps one to radiate from their core, and explore putting colors, images, patterns, pressure and symbols onto paper as an expression of “Look what came out of me.”
